New Game Jam Release: Deep Delve


I’ve just finished and posted Deep Delve, a primary release for a game I created specifically for the Pre-Made Jam, November 2020 edition.

It’s another retro-inspired title, with a couple twists. To sum it up briefly:

  • My main inspiration was the original Centipede, and my game turned out to be a high-speed tribute to this classic. I’m pleased with the… lingering resemblance?
  • The key to the game jam was that art assets and the text fonts for submissions were already supplied, so I spent a considerable amount of time re-colouring the graphics provided. I’m especially pleased with the broad range of colours I was able to implement, considering they were provided to participants in grey-scale format, and sized 16x16 pixels.
  • The game jam’s theme was, “Deep.” I began with a relatively simple idea of going deeper into a mountainside to hunt down more spiders, but then decided to turn it up a notch and add in a narrative twist. When you make it to stage four, you’ll see what I mean.

Hope you have fun with this one! I made it during the past few days, while I’m vacationing on my own in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Time to go ride my bicycle… :)
